The International School of Latvia considers each application on an individual basis. Some classes fill up very quickly – months before the next school year. We accept applications throughout the year and application process is on-going.   Applications can be submitted up to one year in advance of the entry date. We always encourage families to apply as soon as possible.

Currently we are accepting applications for students at all grade levels. However, the school is near to full capacity and wait lists have started to form in several grade levels, therefore we encourage you to complete the application process as soon as possible. When you apply the class may be full. In this case your application will be placed on a “wait list” and you will be periodically informed about the status of your application. If we have space, we accept and enroll students throughout the year.

Students at the International School of Latvia are usually placed in the grade after the last one successfully completed, provided official school records are submitted with the application. Placement is determined by evaluating a combination of the following: age, previous school records, number of years of successful completion of school, and teacher/counselor recommendations.

We do not offer any financial aid currently.

Applicants are not required to take specific entrance tests. An English placement test is required for all non native English speakers. More detailed information on the English test will be given once a complete application is received and reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

For students who, by their level of English, qualify for other foreign language, ISL provides instruction in the following foreign languages: French and German (Grades 4-10), and Latvian (Kindergarten – Grade 3). Additionally, we offer Latvian and Russian Mother Tongue Program (PreK 3 – Grade 3).

ISL provides a special program for children whose mother tongue is not English. We call it the “EAL” program or “English as an Additional Language”  program. Many students have limited English language level as they arrive from different parts of the world. Teachers at ISL are specially trained and are able to help new students to  adjust to their new environment.
